The company, based in Vienna, Austria, was founded in 1982 and is an investment company of the international healthcare group Fresenius.
The company is currently undergoing a transformation process involving four transactions. The rehabilitation business was sold to PAI Partners in October 2024, while the hospital services business was integrated into Fresenius Health Services in January 2025. In addition, the international project business was sold to Worldwide Hospitals Group (WWH) in April 2025, while the Austrian activities are to be sold to a consortium of Porr and Strabag, subject to regulatory approval.
On 16 September 2025, VAMED Aktiengesellschaft was renamed to VIACAMA AG.
