Europe’s largest addiction treatment clinic has been completely renewed to accommodate today’s and future requirements. For more than 50 years, human beings with risky drug use have found their way out of dependency with the help of the clinic’s treatment. Each year, Anton Proksch Institute treats about 200 inpatients and about 480 outpatients from across Austria. 

Challenge

Both, new construction and renovation were carried out without disrupting the continuous operation of the hospital.

Solution

On the basis of a turnkey contract, the addiction treatment ward with an area of 2.000 m² providing inpatient therapy facilities was constructed and handed over for use in October 2021. Then, part of the existing building was renovated and now offers 600 m² of space dedicated to  full-day outpatient therapies. In the next stages, the entire facility underwent comprehensive modernization.
